Cost-effective network solutions provide enhanced installation flexibility

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – April 2, 2014 –
Interlogix, a leader in security and life-safety solutions for residential and commercial enterprises, has released 15 new IFS® network switches and media converters that bring high-speed Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) performance, high-power Power over Ethernet (PoE) options and innovative diagnostic tools to the installation and maintenance of commercial networked Internet protocol (IP) video systems. Interlogix is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Included among the new offerings are:

  • The value-priced ES series of unmanaged switches, providing plug-and-play installation along with a robust internal power supply providing up to 15.4W of PoE on four of the eight available ports. Available in either Fast Ethernet or GigE versions, these switches are ideal for small, stand-alone IP video installations.
  • A 10-port GigE PoE+ managed switch providing high-performance Gigabit transmission, up to 30W of power per port and extensive built-in monitoring and diagnostic tools that save dealers and end users time and money. The unit’s innovative Alive-Checking feature monitors and automatically power-cycles locked-up IP cameras or other powered devices. The switch can also send an email notification of these events to a network administrator or integrator to assess potential service or replacement of the IP camera.
  • New IFS Power-over-Coax (PoC) media converters, which support combined IP video and power transmission over existing coaxial cable, eliminating the need for power at the remote camera location. They have a wide temperature operation range, enabling use in harsh environments such as parking garages and warehouses.

“These IFS network solutions are designed to meet the demands of today’s IP video systems by delivering high-performance GigE transmission and efficient PoE-distributed power solutions to end-user networks. Our innovative built-in monitoring and diagnostic tools enable system integrators to maximize their profits by lowering installation costs and reducing troubleshooting time and labor,” said Richard Malstrom, product marketing manager, transmission, Interlogix.

These and other IFS network transmission products will be demonstrated April 2-4 in booth #18019 at ISC West in Las Vegas and are immediately available through authorized Interlogix dealers and distributors.
